Drowning to Breathe was the conclusion to A stone in the Sea Duet. This book was beyond perfect! The ending tied up in a pretty bow. A.L. Jackson is such a spectacular writer. All of her books are written with such intense emotion. Shea and Sebastian's story is one that will stick with you long after you've finished the last line of the book. It's a novel of devotion, love, and beauty. There's some heartbreaking chapters as we learn a lot about Shea's past and all she's had to overcome. Ms. Jackson did a magnificent job on this novel. I'm looking forward to the next book which is Lyric's story.

I didn't want to love yet another story about a rock star falling in love, but I did. This wasn't just a surface story because it had secrets, mystery, steam and heart. Can't wait to read all of the books about the Sunder rockers!

A.L. Jackson is a literary genius! There is never a doubt that when i pick up one of her books that I will be pulled and made to feel everything. This book is no exception! A.L. Jackson is the all about THE FEELS! Happiness, anger, sadness, joy, relief, guilt, sexiness - everything, all of it. Her words pull you in and hypnotizes you. Reading the conclusion of Shea & Baz's story was everything I expected and didn't expect all wrapped up into the emotional ups & downs that only A.L. Jackson knows how to write! You will devour every word, savor every sentence, be anxious to read every page, and cannot believe when you finish it that it's over because despite giving you the closure you need, A.L. Jackson's writing always leaves you wanting more or her words.

I absolutely loved Drowning to Breathe. This is the conclusion to Shea and Sebastian's story that began in A Stone in the Sea. The love and pain can be felt pouring from the pages. Get tissues ready because I had tears pouring down my face as I finish this book. It was such a beautiful love story. The ending couldn't have been more perfect and it was so much more than I expected. AL Jackson takes us on a journey of heartache, love and devotion that will stay with you for a long time!

5 "Perfect Ending" Stars I fell in love with A.L Jackson when I read The Regret Series. After that I read everything I could get my hands on. When I read A Stone in the Sea, the first book in the Bleeding Stars series, I was blown away. Her writing gets better and better with each book. When that book left off with the cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers, I was waiting (impatiently) for book 2. After getting the chance to read Drowning to Breathe early, I took it and was awed at how Shea and Baz overcame all the potholes their very public lives left in front of them. With lyrical prose that grabbed my heart and never let go, Shea and Baz and little Kallie, finally got all the good things they deserved. Picking up right where A Stone in the Sea ended, Baz is left reeling from the information that his arch nemesis is actually the very-not-dead father to Kallie. After bearing his soul to Shea, he's devastated to learn that Shea wasn't doing the same for him. At first he isn't sure how to deal with his world being turned up side down and is determined that he will not be the catalyst for more problems for Shea and Kallie. At first he thinks that the right thing to do is to extricate himself from their lives, but from the help of his bandmates and his brother, he realizes that the only path that makes sense is for him to fight right alongside Shea. Together they are determined to rip their happily ever after out from under Martin and do it as a team. I loved that this book showed two people working together without lies and secrets pulling them apart. They learned from their mistakes and didn't let anyone stand in their way. Of course there was suspense and tension while they waited to see if Kallie was going to be able to come home and afterwords while they waited for Martin to make his next move, but they didn't let that come between them. They were a unified front without unnecessary angst and drama. Watching them together was beautiful even during the most tragic of circumstances. The way the story came together showed that Baz and Shea had ties that bound them together before they even knew each other. Showing real love and devotion was a beautiful thing and Shea and Baz are the epitome of beautiful together. This brilliant story was the perfect conclusion to their story but opened the door for more from Baz's bandmates and from his brother. I'm excited to see where their stories take them and to get glimpses of the future that Baz and Shea worked so hard for. Arc provided by author for honest review

DtB... the only word that comes to mind is PERFECTION! We continue along with Sebastian and Shea's story from A Stone in the Sea and boy was it an emotional one! This book was a beautiful and trying culmination of their love for one another. Sebastian is a man that loves fiercely, will do ANYTHING for his family and you can feel every moment of that. I always say A.L. Jackson is the QUEEN of angst and she did not disappoint! I was lead on this massive emotional roller coaster chalk full of unspeakable heartache, fierce love, joyous moments and so much more. Amy's writing style is incredible and if you're new to her work, this series is a perfect place to start... BUT I say read all of her books;) she is one of those very few authors I will drop everything for when she releases a book!

"That's what I wanted. To be her breath." WHOA! This is the most perfect follow up to "A Stone in the Sea" that I could have ever hoped for. Shea and Baz's story immediately stole my heart and I couldn't wait to see what else was in store for them. I LOVE the dual POV that AL Jackson gives us. I feel like its a window into the character's world that we wouldn't get if they weren't speaking themselves. Shea is such a strong willed and hopelessly romantic person, and the fact that she puts everyone and everything above herself shows us what kind of person she really is. I laughed and cried with her this book. I related to Shea so much and it was like a piece of me was within these pages. Baz. OH.MY.BAZ!! I F'love him. I will say it again.... I F'love him!! Who doesn't love a rockstar? Right? Well, that is not even why I F'love him. Oddly enough, I love him for everything BUT the fact he's a rocker. He has the biggest heart, and even though he has a horrible habit of never letting anyone see that...as you go further into their twist and turns of a story you will see it is there. BUY THIS BOOK. THAT IS ALL. READ THIS SERIES! (You can thank me later)
  • A TIMELESS LOVE STORY THAT'S POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL, AND SINFULLY SEXY!,

Drowning to Breathe is an intoxicating blend of sexy and sweet, served up with a side of intrigue. Intense and passionate, Sebastian and Shea’s love story is an unforgettable journey that’s guaranteed to captivate your heart. It’s powerful, emotional, and sinfully sexy! A perfectly “imperfect” love story that grabs ahold of your heart and refuses to let go. With eagerness and excitement, I dove into “Drowning to Breathe” and devoured each and every word. Beautiful in its execution, the conclusion to Sebastian and Shea’s story was laid out perfectly. Satisfying the emotional impact I desperately craved, not once was I disappointed. From start to finish, there were moments that made me smile, moments that made me cry, and moments that made me swoon. There were surprises I rejoiced in and bittersweet scenes that broke my heart. Without a doubt, I fell fast and hard for Sebastian Stone, but the sweet and tender moments between him and Kallie had me falling just a little bit more. Following the brutal, agonizing cliffhanger from “A Stone in the Sea,” I was left stunned and heartbroken. I wondered… where do Sebastian and Shea go from here? Could their love possibly survive? There were many issues that needed to be addressed--questions that required answers; situations that begged to be resolved. But despite the destructive turmoil that the lies and secrets had left in its wake, the emotional and physical intensity between Sebastian and Shea remained intact. Their love a constant, I sighed in relief and grinned with delight. Back in all his villainous glory, Martin Jennings continues to make his presence known. His prevailing malice towards Shea and Sebastian is never far from mind. Set on vengeance and ready to strike, Martin lays in wait, lurking in the background. Now joined in a game of cat and mouse, their once separate lives have connected in an ironic twist of fate. To offset the foreboding Martin Jennings, we have the unwavering loyalty of Anthony and the band members. I love their devotion to Sebastian and how readily they extended it to Shea and Kallie. The ease with which they welcomed Baz’s “girls” into their lives was nothing less than heartwarming. Who knew that these hard-core rock stars could be so firecely protective and yet so sweet? And then there’s Austin… the broken boy that Sebastian is desperate to fix; the brother he’d do anything for in order to protect. My heart bleeds for Austin as he continues to be haunted by the ghosts of his past. Without drugs to bury the guilt and fear, some of Austin’s demons slowly become unmasked. But despite new insight into Austin’s pain, there is still much to be learned and a great deal of healing that’s yet to take place. “Drowning to Breathe” is a fated love story woven within an intricate web of heinous deeds, treachery and deceit. Nervous anticipation kept me on edge, as I hoped for the best while fearing the worst. As the story unfolds, hidden truths come to light, culminating in a surprising revelation. With past atrocities finally exposed, Sebastian and Shea’s future becomes less certain. Suddenly, they’re free falling without a net. Still, I held out hope that a “happily ever after” remained within their grasp. With artistic elegance, AL Jackson delivers an enthralling love story laced with passion and suspense. It’s alluring, sensual, soulful and poetic. Powerfully gripping and emotionally consuming, “Drowning to Breathe” is everything you crave in a romance novel and more. It’s a timeless love story you won’t soon forget!

First of all, if you are reading this review and have not read A Stone in the Sea, you should turn right around and go pick that up right now! Drowning to Breathe is the second book and the ending to Sebastian and Shea's story, so make sure you read it after A Stone in the Sea. Drowning to Breathe packs so many feelings from earth shattering heartbreak to ultimate joy, which we have all come to expect from any of Amy's books. So that should definitely not come as a surprise to anyone. :) In A Stone in the Sea we met Sebastian, the lead singer of Sunder, and Shea, the woman he becomes captivated with, and can not seem to stay away from or keep his mind off of while he and his band are on a little bit of a "break" in Georgia. We see the two fight the forces between them and ultimately at the end of A Stone in the Sea, we see Sebastian and Shea come together. Both realizing that they can not fight the chemistry that draws them together. Tragedy strikes and we are left with not knowing how things are going to work out, or even if they will. Drowning to Breathe picks up right where A Stone in the Sea ends, Shea and Sebastian going through unspeakable amounts of heart ache; trying to wade through tragedy and all of the forces coming at them to keep them a part. Both Sebastian and Shea have to decide whether their love is worth the risk, knowing that they would not be able to go on with out the other in their lives. I felt every heart wrenching scene in this book. I had tears multiple times, and actually had to set down my kindle to come back a little while later. You will feel all of Sebastian and Shea's highest highs, and their lowest lows, and that my friend is the mark of an excellent storyteller. I love how Amy is able to pick us up and set us down in the story, as if we were part of it watching things unfold. When I got finished with A Stone in the Sea, I was waiting on baited breath until we could get Drowning to Breathe and the conclusion to Shea and Sebastian's story did NOT disappoint. This series is a definite read NOW series. It is one of my top reads for the year, so go ahead and get started!
